Chatting with Charlotte

Again trying to document the funnies that come out of sweet Charlotte's mouth!

I mailed some things from the post office the other day and they have a display of greeting cards along the back wall.  Charlotte was looking at all the cards and pretending to read what was inside.  Here is what some of her greeting cards would say:

"I love you, Charlotte.  You are so smart."

"I love you, Charlotte.  I like your dress."

"You're doing great."

"Ooooh Charlotte!"

Everyone in line was getting a good laugh from her narrations!

Chatting with Charlotte

Charlotte says just as many funny things as Carter and sadly I have failed to document the majority of them.  However, I just wanted to remind myself of how clever and smart I think she is after a conversation today.

Last week our friends, the Ivys came to visit and they had recently been on a trip to Disney world.  We talked about their vacation, but not to any great length.... in front of the kids. (We picked their brains that evening).  There was mention of Disney Dollars and the princesses, but that was about it.  Their daughter is named Madelyn.  Also, weeks before this visit, we attended a birthday party for some neighborhood friends, who's daughter is also named Madelyn.  It was at a bounce house place and at one point Charlotte climbed up the tallest inflatable slide and then would not slide down, so I ended up having to climb up and bring her back down.  OK that is the back story to this conversation.....

So tonight I was telling Brody about an applique/monogram order that I had received.  It's an extended family making a return visit to Disney World, so they are interested in getting matching shirts for their entire family.
Charlotte gets all excited and says,
"Madelyn has a little baby brother Charlie and they had fun at Disney!!!  Madelyn's mommy gave her Disney money and she got to spend the night there!!"  I just stared at her shocked that 1) she heard me briefly say Disney (she honestly doesn't even know what "Disney World" is) and 2) that she remembered our friends had visited Disney.  Then as she is looking at the picture of Carter climbing a ladder that is posted on the fridge, she goes on to say, "Another Madelyn had a party and mommy had to climb stairs like that to come get me."  I had almost forgotten about that party, so I had to probe her on what she was talking about.  Then it clicked, and she was so happy that I remembered and validated that she was right.

Brody was joking with her and said, "Charlotte, do you think it's funny that we say things and think you are not listening or that you don't understand?!?!"  And Charlotte just laughed and laughed!!!

Ivy Visit!!!

The Ivys came in town to visit and so that Lana could meet up with some friends to celebrate an up coming wedding! We were so excited to spend the weekend with them! Carter and Charlotte spent the first 30 minutes of their arrival "showing off" with skills such and jumping and rolling!! Very impressive! Hehe Carter and Charlotte loved having Madelyn here to play with and they both seemed very interested in baby Charlie as well!!

It was a late night Friday as we attempted a "slumber party" in Carter's room. Not a lot of slumbering happened until we separated Charlotte and warned the big kids they'd better zip their lips.

Saturday Carter had a cheering section at his T Ball game and then we came home for rest and relaxation. It was really rainy, so the kids enjoyed watching a movie while on pallets and then building a fort later in the day.

What a fun weekend and we look forward to more visits, once the live a little closer!!!

Birthday Chapel

Today was both of the kids' birthday chapel. So nice to let me schedule the same day!! Since their birthdays will not be during the school year, it was "pretend" birthdays today. They look a little "gun shy" up there, but they were all smiles walking in with their class and waving to me!

Easter 2013

We started our Easter trip to San Angelo at my dad's ranch near Junction.  We had fun seeing the work he's done out there and where the house will be built.  We even found a "cave" which took Carter all of 3 seconds to climb into and roll in the sandy dirt!  Gotta get dirty at the ranch!
I got to do some target practice with my new gun.  Not 100% accurate, but don't break into my house!  I'll get you!

We roasted S'mores at night too!

Saturday, we headed into town to visit the great grandmothers.  Gama had some fun Easter treats waiting for the kids!
Later that night we were supposed to host all the family at my dad's, but due to a power outage on our block we headed over to the Fortenberry's.  We brought along "gender reveal" cake ball!  The inside would either be pink or blue to let us know what the gender of our upcoming baby would be.
It's a BOY!!!!

Boy, Girl,  BOY!!!
Yep... Still blue!
